What is Web 3.0? Pt1

At it's core, Web 3 is the original intent of the internet.

Before we dive into this rabbit hole

And I start getting a bunch of comments telling me I'm wrong and I am a dope that dont know what I'm talking about. Let me just say this.

You are correct. I dont know what I am talking about. But I am trying to explain this to people who know even less than I do. So if I do get something wrong please let me know!

It's actually easy to know the definition of Web 3. But to understand what it will become in reality is the hard part. For most people it is uncharted waters that they will be crossing and that is just plain scary as hell.

Just a couple hundred years ago people crossed oceans in wooden boats with no electricty. To us thats crazy and insane. Out there in the middle of nowhere with only 1 bar of a data sinal? Thats barbaric! To them it was a way of life. It's not any diferent than what we will need to face to enter Web3.

Also this is just a "cliffs notes" overview of the subject because this subject is vast and unknown we will need Captain Kirk to get us back home.

Historic Summary

I'm not gonna go through a history of the internet because thats pretty much been done a thousand times over. But to put it real simple and easy to understand just look at what the inventer of the internt (not Al Gore) had envisioned for what he called "The Semantic Web".

"The Semantic Web is meant to "automatically" interface with systems, people and home devices. As such, content creation and decision-making processes will involve both humans and machines. This would enable the intelligent creation and distribution of highly-tailored content straight to every internet consumer." - Tim Berners-Lee Inventer of the internet 1989

The Universe Explanation

There isnt really a "Universe Theory" or anything that I have found. But this is the way I have to picture it in my head to understand it. And when I look at this way it makes me want to jump and down and scream "IT'S HERE TODAY"!

Not because I know anything about how it works. It's not that I am some kind of futurist or even a wealthy investor. I dont know anything about those things. But what I do know about is sovererinty. Freedom and choice. Rights as a human. Rights to my opinion, my thoughts, my liberty. I believe we all have those. Each and every person have a right to exist and to accumulate whatever they percieve to be wealth and success. For some that might be bitcoin for others it might be a collection of baseball cards.

But I just put it out here as simple as I can.

In a nut shell

  • Planets - Are us. Humans sovereign and free
  • Stars - Are the dapps/iot edvices/AI that make up the Galaxies
  • Galaxies - Are the Ecosystems
  • The Universe - All those different ecosystems working together

Whats missing from this explanation:

  • The medium that connects the planets to the stars and the stars to the galaxies.
  • The medium that connects the galaxies to each other to create the universe
Whell the first of these two are here today. It's called blockchain technology and there are alot of them out there already. But the best one that is currently running the most effiecently and the most economical for all parties is Hive.

His vision way back then was very abruptly pushed to the side once the tech companies got their fingers into everything and figured out that people's personal data had become the next gold rush. Now over 30 years later his vision has nearly come to fruition.

I ran across these 3 articles below that really lay it all out there as far as the definition of Web3.0 is. According to many of the experts and I am not one of them. We are still several years away from Web 3.0. I agree but I also disagree. Because we can see everone of their "requirements" to the definition of Web 3.0 is here today.

Web 3.0 (originally coined the Semantic Web by Tim Berners-Lee, the Web’s original inventor), is an even more fundamental disruption, one that in time will leave everything hitherto in its shade. It is a leap forward to open, trustless and permissionless networks.

  • ‘Open’ in that they are built from open source software built by an open and accessible community of developers and executed in full view of the world.
‘- Trustless’ in that the network itself allows participants to interact publicly or privately without a trusted third party.
  • ‘Permissionless’ in that anyone, both users and suppliers, can participate without authorisation from a governing body.

In Conclusion:
The new internet will provide a more personal and customized browsing experience, a smarter and more human-like search assistant, and other decentralized benefits that are hoped will help to establish a more equitable web. This will be achieved by empowering each individual user to become a sovereign over their data, and creating a richer overall experience thanks to the myriad of innovations that is to come once it is in place.
When Web 3.0 inevitably arrives the internet will become exponentially more integrated in our daily lives
We will see nearly all of today’s normally offline machines, from home appliances like ovens, vacuums, and refrigerators to all types of transport become part of the IoT economy, interacting with its autonomous servers and decentralized applications (DApps), advancing new digital realms like blockchain and digital asset to power a myriad of new tech “miracles” for the 21st century.

In sum, Web 3.0 will bring us a fairer internet by enabling the individual to be a sovereign. True sovereignty implies owning and being able to control who profits from one’s time and information. Web 3.0’s decentralized blockchain protocol will enable individuals to connect to an internet where they can own and be properly compensated for their time and data, eclipsing an exploitative and unjust web, where giant, centralized repositories are the only ones that own and profit from it.
